The residents of Terrace Home, a Senior Living facility, were having breakfast in the dining room one morning and noticed that one of the residents had not come for breakfast One of them went upstairs and knocked on his door. He said he was running late and would be down shortly.
An hour later he still hadn’t arrived so one of the men went and found him, but he was having a terrible time walking and had a death grip on the rail. He didn’t want an ambulance to be called because he wasn’t in any pain and just wanted his breakfast. He had his breakfast, but when he tried to return to his room he was completely unable to get up so they called an ambulance for him. A couple of hours later they called the hospital to see how he was doing. The receptionist there said he was fine; he just had both of his legs in one leg of his boxer shorts.
“Behold what manner of love the Father has bestowed on us, that we should be called children of God! Therefore, the world does not know us, because it did not know Him.” I John 3:1
After watching “The Case for Christ,” Terry and I were talking about how excited the wife was about her newfound faith and when we last were that excited about our love for Jesus. Sometimes, we just need a little wake up call, a new perspective and appreciation for the powerful love of the Father. John was saying, “LOOK HERE! Look at how much the Father loves us! HE has made us His children. We need this wake-up call because we get wrapped up in the world and its cares and before you know it, we start walking funny! We quit acting like His children and we start looking just like the world with its busyness, selfishness, and hopelessness! I’m a child of the King! Say that: “I’m a child of the King!” Now, let’s walk like a child of the King!”
