After buying her kids a pet hamster, after they PROMISED they would take care of it, Mom, as usual, ended up with the responsibility. One evening, exasperated, she asked them, "How many times do you think that hamster would have died if I hadn't looked after it?" After a moment, her youngest son replied quizzically, "Once?"
“Now to Him who is able to do exceedingly abundantly above all that we ask or think, according to the power that works in us, 21 to Him be glory in the church by Christ Jesus to all generations, forever and ever. Amen.” Ephesians 3:20-21
Sometimes we overestimate our abilities and the difference we can make in our own strength. However, we have no idea what all God can do, but we see here that He is able to do “far more abundantly beyond what we ask or think.”
Monday night I received a message from one of Jo Beth’s childhood friends, who is more like a family member. She’s been on family vacations and mission trips with us, but in the last four years that I’ve not seen her, she had wandered away from the Lord. She asked if I’d be a ministry reference because she has been asked to apply to a Christian Leadership program of a ministry of her church. I asked her to call me, and she did. Then she told me how she’d gotten things right with the Lord and “done a 180 and had really gotten into church.” Yes, God “is able to do far more abundantly beyond all that we ask or think according to the power that works within us.’ His power! Do you need a miracle? You can’t imagine what He can do. Turn to Him because “He is able!”
