Mother or Smother?

“The speaker at a woman’s club was lecturing on marriage and asked the audience how many of them wanted to “mother” their husbands. One member in the back row raised her hand. “Do you want to mother your husband?” the speaker asked. “Mother?” the woman echoed. “I thought you said smother.”

“And whatever you do, do it heartily, as to the Lord and not to men, 24 knowing that from the Lord you will receive the reward of the inheritance; for you serve the Lord Christ.”

There’s a lot going on around here, to the point that it sometimes feels like I’m being smothered! So, from time to time, the Lord reminds me about what it’s all about. We serve the Lord Jesus Christ! Yes, we’re all tempted to make life all about us, but as believers, that’s not how it’s supposed to be.

In the next few weeks, we are working hard to provide opportunities for spiritual growth and participation in Worship, Discipleship, Ministry, Fellowship, and missions. Don’t get left behind. Find your place, be prepared, and experience the joy of serving the Lord.
