That's Something To Remember

.An elderly gent was invited to his old friends' home for dinner one evening. He was impressed by the way his buddy preceded every request to his wife with endearing terms; Honey, My Love, Darling, Sweetheart, Pumpkin, etc. The couple had been married almost 70 years and, clearly, they were still very much in love. While the wife was in the kitchen, the man leaned over and said to his host, "I think it's wonderful that, after all these years, you still call your wife those loving pet names." The old man hung his head. "I have to tell you the truth," he said, "I forgot her name about 10 years ago."

“Now on the first day of the week Mary Magdalene went to the tomb early, while it was still dark, and saw that the stone had been taken away from the tomb. Then she ran and came to Simon Peter, and to the other disciple, whom Jesus loved, and said to them, “They have taken away the Lord out of the tomb, and we do not know where they have laid Him.” Peter therefore went out, and the other disciple, and were going to the tomb. So they both ran together, and the other disciple outran Peter and came to the tomb first.”  John 20:1-4

Don’t you hate forgetting someone’s name or number or birthday. Today, Jo Beth, our baby, turns 22. For some reason, I wished her happy birthday at 1:00 am  Tuesday morning. After a late meeting, I was up late and thought, “I want to be the first one to wish Jo Beth happy birthday!”  Well, I think I accomplished that, a day early!

How could we forget the meaning of Easter? It’s not about new shoes, new clothes, candy, Easter eggs or bunnies. Easter is the celebration of Resurrection Day, when Jesus defeated sin and death. Notice in the scripture how Mary was running, Peter and John were running. Everyone was running to see the empty tomb and tell about their Savior, Who died for their sins and rose from the dead! His victory over sin and death gives us hope! His resurrection from the dead gives us the assurance that He has the power to transform our lives. That’s something to remember! Happy Resurrection Day!
