Would You Believe?

“While working for an organization that delivers lunches to elderly shut-ins, I used to take my four-year-old daughter on my afternoon rounds. She was unfailingly intrigued by the various appliances of old age, particularly the canes, walkers and wheelchairs. One day I found her staring at a pair of false teeth soaking in a glass. As I braced myself for the inevitable barrage of questions, she merely turned and whispered, "The tooth fairy will never believe this!"

“They will come from the east and the west, from the north and the south, and sit down in the kingdom of God. 30 And indeed there are last who will be first, and there are first who will be last.” Luke 13:29-30

I took a little trip on Monday to Camp Copass. I rode on the inaugural trip of our new bus with 24 GA’s.  “Girls in Action” is a very appropriate name for this group, but they were the sweetest bunch of girls I’ve been around in quite a while. They were curious as to why I was on the bus. “No, I’m not staying at camp with you!” Thanks to Charles Kesseler, our driver, we made it there safe and sound and I didn’t have to raise my voice or ask who their parents were (I already knew). I almost called the authorities to meet me at the camp to pick up a couple of them because they were playing “Guess the old man’s age.” When they got to 35, I said that was close enough. I guess when I was their age, I would have been like a Civil War veteran! God bless them!

I think in total, we had 50 kids go to R.A. and G.A. camp. Now that is quite a trip, not because of distance, but the purpose, Eternity! The Scripture above speaks of another awesome trip, when we gather from all over the world to enter the Kingdom of God. “What a day of rejoicing that will be!”

My life is not perfect, because I’m not perfect, neither is this fallen world we live in. But what a blessing, and joy fills my heart, because I know the Lord Jesus Christ and He knows me! There are so many things I’m not sure about, but this I know: Jesus is the Son of God, Who died for my sins and rose from the dead on the third day. He has saved me from the guilt and penalty of my sins! I don’t deserve His love or forgiveness, and I fail Him every day, but I look forward to that day when we all get to Heaven.

“When we all see Jesus, we’ll sing and shout the victory!”
