This Saturday you have the opportunity to share that awesome news with the people of Sanger. We will meet at the church for breakfast at 8, then go out to our community and share hope. We will also be asking for opportunities to serve and bring benefit through practical acts of service. Join us in telling Sanger about a God who not only loves them, but gave His life so we might experience eternal life....Keep Reading

Everything has a price! Most of us want something, but we’d rather not have to pay the price or at least not the full price. I know some of us will spend more than you should, but if we think we got a good price, it was a good deal! This applies to our church as well, we all have things that we want from our church, maybe not a rebate on our offering, but we want something....Keep Reading

Have you ever imagined living in a society in which you could not access God’s Word? For us, that scenario is impossible to imagine. We can find a copy of the Bible in so many versions and phone apps that not having access to the Scriptures in our language seems impossible. But for individuals in 4,000 language groups in our world, access to the Bible is non-existent. These individuals have no possibility of hearing how much God loves them and the truth of Jesus....Keep Reading

The High Cost of Not Listening

Posted onApril 9, 2019 | 0 comments

I’m probably the only one that feels this way, but sometimes it seems like when I open my mouth, ears are closing up shop, like I’m Charlie Brown’s teacher: “Wah, wah, wah, wah.” And I just love the times when I’m totally misunderstood. I’m sure that most of the time, I just didn’t communicate very well, but sometimes it’s because someone wasn’t listening. But, imagine how the Lord feels when He is ignored and misunderstood because we’re not listening. ...Keep Reading

How should Christians react in a time of anger on both sides of the political aisle? I believe Micah 6:8 points us in the right direction. That verse simply tells us to live justly, love mercy and walk humbly with our God. Right is still right and wrong is still wrong. It is, and always will be, wrong to abuse anyone. We must treat everyone with respect and dignity, even those with whom we disagree. Those who abuse people made in the Image of God will, in the end, receive the just rewards for their abuse....Keep Reading

Real Fellowship

Posted onJune 13, 2018 | by: John Guerra | 0 comments

If we follow the example of the early church, we should be as committed to Bible study, fellowship and prayer. However, the word interpreted “fellowship” is koinonia, which means to be a partner and to share a common interest - like unity. ...Keep Reading

We finished up our study of Experiencing God this week. Personally, I have been challenged in a couple of areas throughout the study. I’ve rarely observed any sense of urgency when a child is asked to go to bed or a youth to clean their room, but what about us when it concerns eternity. The process of making disciples sounds a lot like raising children. A new believer needs simple rules to start their life in Christ. They need to learn the importance of reading their Bible, praying, attending church and fellowshipping with other believers. In the very beginning of their new life in Christ, it is probably enough for them to see those things as rules to follow. But as they begin to grow in Christ, conversations need to occur helping them discover for themselves why those initial steps are so important....Keep Reading

When we come to the place where we put our faith in Jesus Christ to save us from our sin, we have to let go of whatever we have been trusting in or believing. Our good works, our intelligence, science, our hard work or whatever has to die to us, so that we trust in Jesus and His death, burial and resurrection. “Dying to self,” or being crucified with Christ ends that life in flesh and begins our life in the Spirit, forgiven, saved and surrendered to Jesus....Keep Reading

Necessary Adjustments

One of my favorite books in the Bible is Ephesians. I love that book, because the first three chapters detail what one might call “pure theology.” Then in the final three chapters, Paul discusses what I call “applied theology.” We need a solid grasp of what we believe without the hindrance of the messiness of life, but that must be followed up with serious thought as to how those beliefs intersect with life....Keep Reading

It seems like too many church-goers today are satisfied with just that, going to church. Church attendance is not the extent of our purpose. It started Monday evening when a group of over 20 men from FBC Sanger gathered with 400 men at FBC Decatur to hear from God. God used that gathering to pull one of our men to Himself. From there, the youth took over for the weekend with D-Now. God spoke powerfully to our students through many adults who volunteered their time, talents and treasure to invest in eternity this weekend. That sounds suspiciously like something we have been studying the last few weeks....Keep Reading

Let Go and Let God

Sometimes we’re just like that child that wants his way and will do anything to get it. So, we fight and we fuss and we push and we pull because we want what we want. Then, we wonder why we’re still unhappy, or not at peace, or frustrated or alienated by everyone we hurt or offended. In this passage, we see the Lord is still on His throne, no matter the circumstances, and He is able to give strength and peace to His people....Keep Reading

What Are You Looking For?

After a life of pursuing wealth, fame and power, Paul was on a new hunt. He was committed to honoring and obeying the Father at all costs. What are you looking for? Are you looking to build up or tear down? Are you looking for ways to serve in the future or preserve the past?...Keep Reading

Is There A Monkey On Your Back?

Life throws a lot of things at us every day, so we're always looking for something or someone to save us, heal us or help us. We turn to money, politicians, the government, hard work, good behavior, religion; or we're looking for an escape or distraction like alcohol, drugs, food, or even some good things....Keep Reading

Thank You!

Thank you for your faithfulness to God and His church as you come out and serve! What a blessing to be a part of a church that is willing to serve! He showed Himself strong last night, so let's continue to work with Him in reaching our community, He is not finished with us yet!...Keep Reading

When the election is over, we need to begin praying for every candidate elected to office no matter how we might feel about that candidate. Pray for their safety and for God to bless their tenure in office. Pray for peace in our nation. Disagree all you want with election results, but do so with civility and gentleness. Let us, as followers of Jesus, stand with integrity and dignity honoring God with all we say and do....Keep Reading

Selfless Service

We choose to do what is good, serving God and others. It's a choice. We can talk about loving God or put on the pretense of loving God, but it's seen in our service, so let our love be without hypocrisy. And before you start judging others and their motivations for service, don't go there, deal with the person in the mirror. What is the good choice? ...Keep Reading

Called to Serve

Posted onOctober 24, 2016 | by: John Guerra | 0 comments

That's the nature of being a servant, serving at the pleasure of our Master. So, are you serving on God's terms, your own, or not at all? In Christ, we are free, but we're called to serve on His terms....Keep Reading

Coming to Sanger one year ago, I hoped to develop good positive relationships with the Pastoral Staff. That hope has been surpassed in ways I could only dream. These men are more than co-workers, they are friends and fellow servants of Jesus. Your staff has one goal and works in one direction. Let's make sure these men feel our love and appreciation for all they do....Keep Reading

There are times in our lives when we want to hear from God and there are times, when we're so pleased with ourselves that we'd rather not. We may not hear an audible voice like Samuel, but God will speak to us. The question is, are we listening?...Keep Reading

Unchanging Purpose

If we go to the trouble of making some difficult changes in our church, but do not invest our lives in ministry and reaching out to our neighbors, the changes are for nothing. Instead of focusing on change, let's focus on the job at hand. Let's join God in building His Kingdom....Keep Reading

Sunday was awesome! We had 208 in our first hour of Bible Study and 171 in the second hour. Our newest class had 16 present and we were looking for 4 more. Both worship services were wonderful times of glorifying the Lord and the baptisms! This is an exciting time in the life of our church as we put it all on the line to reach this community and our world for Jesus Christ. ...Keep Reading

This speaks of values. Most of us think we are aware of our values, but are we really? Our attitudes and behavior reveal our values more than our words. Like the movie star that flew across the world to a conference on warming, but the fact that he took a private jet revealed that he cared more about his comfort than the environment....Keep Reading

"If My people who are called by My name will humble themselves, and pray and seek My face, and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven, and will forgive their sin and heal their land. 15 Now My eyes will be open and My ears attentive to prayer made in this place." II Chronicles 7:14-15...Keep Reading

Would You Believe?

I think in total, we had 50 kids go to R.A. and G.A. camp. Now that is quite a trip, not because of distance, but the purpose, Eternity! The Scripture above speaks of another awesome trip, when we gather from all over the world to enter the Kingdom of God. "What a day of rejoicing that will be!"...Keep Reading

Which Way Are You Headed?

The Big Payoff

This reminds me of some of our men last Friday night at our R.A. Pinewood Derby races. What a great time and what a powerful statement was made as men in our church said with their actions that our boys are a good investment! There are so many things they could have been doing and so many places everyone have been, but Friday night was set aside for the Lord to use these men in the lives of our boys....Keep Reading

Seasons of Change
